Quote function on the mainland

Postby Stealthranger » Sat Jul 20, 2013 11:08 pm

Just wondering if this would be possible to have one there, so posts can be easier to read

Not only that, but in debates, lack of a proper quote function, makes it take longer to find which posts are quoted and which aren't

The commenting layout imo is terrible

I just use italics, I feel that it's more noticeable than just quotations.

Same here. I rather like the comment system how it is, though a few small tweaks wouldn't hurt. Being able to edit your posts for a few minutes after submitting them is something I support.

So long as it doesn't rely on anything like Disqus. That format was very unsuitable for debating.

Indeed. Though I understand what Admin was trying to do, I consider Disqus a nightmare.

I always like the current system its just I notice the lack of quotation from the newer posters. Because sometimes the current system is flat out confusing.

I don't like the current style which is

Quote (Without quotation some times)

That is my issue though more people using italics should reduce that but typing in the Quotation marks is strongly recommended for clear communication.

It's rarely (if ever) an issue for those following along and participating in the debate. It would add some approachability for those seeking to join a particular thread, but I still don't think the difference would be astronomical. For me, the biggest issue with a quote function is it's too easy to quote more than what you're replying to, or to quote other quotes. Posts would end up being needlessly long and cluttered with extra quote boxes, and I don't like seeing all those lines.

Then again, that's a small price to pay for clarity.

Regardless, we probably need a new layout, honestly, a better commenting system is what would draw moar members here, like the ones other forums have (what with quote functions and shit)

But yeah like you said, not Disqus, lol
