Gilzen vs an Alien
“No sooner had the hoarse voice muttered that than the figures, who’d been halted like a movie still, went into motion in unison. The one on the other side of Lourié—a figure in a featureless mask wearing a green cape—made a horizontal sweep of its right hand. The baton grasped in a fist that looked like twisted wire grew to over fifteen feet in length, mowing through Gilzen’s neck. Sparks flew. Gilzen’s right hand—and the gold scepter it carried—had parried the blow. Both actions had occurred with a speed imperceptible to the naked eye. D alone had caught them.”
-
“The gleam of the opponent’s weapon drew back, then came at the Nobleman again—this time falling from above as if splitting firewood. Gilzen dodged it, changing his stance. But a split second before he did so, the long spear slashed up at him from below. It looked as if the Nobleman was constantly on the defensive. The movements of the two were succinct, with crimson sparks glowing incessantly in the gloom. Minute piled upon minute, with Gilzen always on the receiving end.
“His opponent’s not bad, either. It’s keeping the same Gilzen who defeated you on the defensive!” the hoarse voice said, making sure to place special emphasis on the “who defeated you” part. But then it let out a gasp of surprise.”
-
“Changing his footwork, Gilzen halted for a moment. Not missing that chance, his foe whipped its long spear around in a flashing arc—which Gilzen dipped at an angle to avert, his bizarre rib sword then bursting from his torso and stabbing into his opponent’s abdomen at an angle. Letting out a cry that fell short of words, the Nobleman’s foe swung its long spear, severing the stark implement of death before the creature made a great leap back.
“Looks like the tide has turned,” the hoarse voice said, its words surging forward.
Gilzen pursued his foe, while Lourié remained where he was. Like a swallow in flight, D dashed over and scooped up the diminutive figure, pulling him back out of the heat of battle.”

The tale of the Sacred Ancestor vs The Elder God
“All alone, the Sacred Ancestor opened these doors and went inside. And returned a year later. They say he never did tell anyone what happened in that time.”
The surface of the Hunter’s left hand rippled and shook, the muscles quaked, and a tiny human face took shape.
“The Nobility succeeded in calling forth gods. That much is certain. When they first attacked this place, the Sacred Ancestor’s army had thirty thousand men—but they were wiped out in a day. By nothing short of the power of a god. It’s said the only one to escape was the Ultimate Noble, Grand Duke Valcua. If left to its own devices, their god surely would’ve conquered the world. But it wasn’t perfect. The day the Sacred Ancestor himself took the field, it allowed him to make it this far, then squared off with him. Just thinking about what kind of battle took place behind those doors gives me goose bumps. After the contest, they say the Sacred Ancestor went to sleep for a hundred years. Apparently it took quite a toll on him.”

Sacred Ancestor vs The Six Guardian Knights
“The six guardian knights,” the hoarse voice said. “Three of them were beheaded by the Sacred Ancestor. But supposedly the other three were turned to stone. And they say those three were the only ones that managed to wound the Sacred Ancestor. So, the legends are true? People turned to stone, stone changing into human beings . . . D,
you have to take care of these clowns first.”

Ds the six guardian Knights (Yellow)
“The robed figures charged toward him like the wind. The Hunter’s right hand went for his weapon’s hilt. A silvery gleam shot toward the neck of the one in front of him. It could even cleave rock.
“Oh!”
The cry of astonishment was overlaid with a metallic sound. One of those who’d just finished turning into a human being—the one in the yellow robe—had parried the blow—a blow from D’s sword! An instant later, a blade whizzed toward D. The parry had become an attack. Sparks shot out twice—and the two combatants switched places. The robed figure reeled, clutching his belly as he twisted around. Not taking another strike at him, D flew through the air. A blow mowed through the position he’d occupied, then headed for where he landed. It was from the figure to the rear—the foe in dark blue.
“At this point, heaven and earth shook. Though D managed to land safely, his opponent was thrown off balance. Not facing his foe, D dashed in the direction of the corridor that had led him there, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
“Were you whipped?” the hoarse voice groaned, sounding like it had to squeeze the words out.”
“D’s left shoulder was split open. Fresh blood fell to the floor. The one in the yellow robe had scored a hit.
“Even for you, those three are a lot to handle. Don’t take them on unless you can do it one on one.”
Not replying, D looked at the gate. The doors slammed shut.
Once again, heaven and earth shook.
“What’s that?”
This time, the voice got an answer.
“An attack from outside. This was a fortress, wasn’t it?”
Undaunted, the gorgeous figure in black started back the way he’d come at a rapid clip. But behind him, the number of headless statues had increased by one.”

The Elder God taking out half an army, the Sacred Ancestors army
“Half of them—fifteen thousand men—just gone!” Bierce exclaimed, wiping his brow. At some point, sweat had started to pour from him. But now there was no shadow. “What was that shadow, anyway? D, you must’ve seen it, right?”
D nodded. Bierce suspected that this man knew everything. If not, how could he remain so calm after seeing that? The shadow, which had painted over the silhouettes of the two men in the room before spiriting off fifteen thousand people to parts unknown, possessed countless writhing tentacles.
“That thing—was it the god?”
“That’s right.”
The Hunter’s calm reply physically chilled Bierce. What were this man’s nerves made of?”

“Vampire Hunter D, Vol. 18: Fortress of the Elder God.”

D vs The Six Guardian Knights (Gray)
“The hooded robe was a grayish hue. The man inside it already held his longsword in his right hand. Before D drew his, his opponent charged at him without a word.
The instant his foe brought his sword down, D’s right hand flashed into action. With a mellifluous sound the blades bit together. As he parried his opponent’s blow, D stood perfectly straight. D then easily reversed the force that traveled from his waist to the soles of his feet. Adding just a tad more power to it, he sent his opponent flying.
By the time the hooded figure made a desperate bid to regain his posture, D was already overhead, transformed into a mystic black bird. He swung his blade down. Beneath it, his foe’s face warped with despair—though D saw something a split second before he struck. His opponent’s miserable look had become a smile.
“As he felt his sword cleave the man from the left side of his neck all the way to the right lung, D experienced a blistering pain in exactly the same location and staggered backward. His foe was also reeling. But look at his foe as he just barely managed to stay on his feet—the black coat, the wide-brimmed traveler’s hat, the longsword he carried, the blue pendant that swayed against his chest. He was exactly like D. However, while blood gushed like a waterfall from the gaping wound on the real D, this one was calmly smiling.
And then the foe adjusted his footing and launched a vicious attack. Narrowly blocking it, D leapt back, hurling a rough wooden stake as he did so. It pierced his bounding foe through the base of his throat, and blood then spilled from the throat of the real D. D was down on one knee as his double walked over to him and raised his blade to strike. The tip of it shook ever so slightly.
-
“A streak of stark light skimmed along the surface of the ground. A futile blow—but while D was unaffected by it, his foe received a deep gash to his right knee. Tumbling forward without a sound, the Hunter’s opponent barely managed to turn himself around.
As he listened to the sound of his foe fleeing with a trail of blood behind him, D used the sword he’d jabbed into the floor to steady himself. The agony surging through his body didn’t draw so much as a single cry from him.
“They made another you,” the hoarse voice said in amazement. “And he was the real thing, too. As a result, when this real one gets cut, the other real one is cut too. Hmm, there’s a certain logic to that.”
And after relating this, the hand followed the trail of blood across the floor, saying, “He might’ve become you, but he couldn’t keep the face. That’s why he took off in the middle of your battle.
“The voice flowed upward—D had gotten to his feet. While he’d sustained life-threatening injuries in two places, the bleeding had stopped. He didn’t seem to be in any pain at all as the hem of his coat fluttered out around him and he turned to walk away. At his back, there was the sound of his hilt clicking against the scabbard.”

The pain of the elder God causes space to distort
“Apparently it’s fallen back.”
The stone walls around D writhed. Space itself was warping with the god’s pain.”

The elder gods sigh

“I don’t think it even budged in that wind. It sure did stand up well,” the hoarse voice said in amazement.
“Do you think you’d blow yourself away with your own breath?” D responded.
“Oh, I get it,” the voice replied, apparently understanding now.
So, the two-thousand-mile-per-hour gale was a sigh of suffering exhaled by the god?”

Even blind D can block an attack
“D felt the fog seeping into every inch of him. It was at that instant that his circulation changed. Spilling from his veins with terrible force, the blood gushed from his pores—or rather, it came out between the lining of his individual cells. Blood robbed him of his vision. His own blood.
At that moment, a vicious killing lust erupted up ahead of him. There was a metallic, eardrum-piercing clang and a shower of sparks as something vaulted over D’s head and landed somewhere in the corridor. It was a foe whose surprise attack had been narrowly parried in the pitch blackness by a dreamlike stroke of D’s blade right out of the sheath.”

D gets hit with more lasers

“D’s coat had black smoke billowing from it.
“Defense systems?” he asked.
D nodded.
The defensive mechanisms incorporated into Miska’s coffin had determined that D was something other than a Noble. His whole body had been pierced by laser beams of a hundred thousand degrees.”

Vlad kills 1 half of the destroyer
“Watch well, D. Witness the true power that we Nobility possess!”
Lord Vlad pulled back hard with his right arm. He held his scepter as if poised to hurl a javelin. Only three feet long, the scepter suddenly stretched—the part that extended was a golden spearhead. The whole scepter was probably some unknown form of coalesced energy. The lord’s surroundings grew distorted, as if glimpsed through a heat shimmer. “Vince’s right hand unleashed a blob of unholy light.
The scepter flew, too.
Changing direction, the point of light painted an arc as it zipped to the tip of the scepter. Even as it took on the pale hue, Vlad’s scepter sped forward. The pale blue light fizzled like popping soap bubbles, leaving the golden tip exposed. Right in front of Vince.
Not only did it strike Vince squarely in the middle of the face, but it even came out through the back of his head. After a few seconds, he took a couple of steps backward, and then his body sank. He was at the brink of the pit.
“Get back!” Lord Vlad shouted as he leapt to the rear.
The explosion this time was terribly small.
-
“As he felt a slight tremor pass through the airship three hundred feet in the air, Lagoon gazed at the scene that filled the windows of the observation deck. At the bottom of the opening yawned another hole, perhaps a third its size. And that was Vince’s grave, plain and simple.

A taste of his blood and D becomes full Noble

“What D had tasted wasn’t the blood of that sacrifice. He’d been wounded in the left shoulder by the copy of the baron. Just before he was pulled down to the ground, the Vampire Hunter had drunk the lifeblood that spilled from that wound, transforming into a creature all abhorred and he himself cursed. A vampire. And there was more to it—late the previous night at the hospital where Lagoon had led D and Taki, the man had a mixed look of terror and nostalgia in his eyes as he gazed at the beauty of that heavenly visage and answered D’s question.”

Vampire Hunter D, Vol. 12: Pale Fallen Angel, Pts. 3 & 4.”

D blocks more lighting
“A bolt of purple lightning flew from somewhere in the coffin, piercing Chlomo’s chest. Though the second blast caught D in midair—the Hunter having already kicked off the floor in a great leap—his blade bisected it, and as he landed next to the coffin, his sword went on to split the box itself in two lengthwise, as incredible as it sounds.
However, there was something D alone perceived. A heartbeat before he had taken flight, the lord’s impostor had bounded from the coffin and landed on his feet on the floor some fifteen feet away.
“Duke Greed?”

D throws his sword with great precision
“D supplied the answer to that. He’d stood up straight right where he was. Without so much as glancing at where the baron and Sergei were doubled over in agony, he drew the sword from his back and made a great swipe with it. Did he intend to hurl it at that woman? She might be thousands, if not tens of thousands, of miles away, if she was anywhere at all.
The blade was hurled. There was no need to wait. A heartbeat later, the woman tumbled backward clutching her heart, and the outline of the sword could indeed be glimpsed between her breasts.”

“Vampire Hunter D, Vol. 14: Dark Road, Pts. 1 & 2.”

D goes full Noble again. Before he couldn't hurt this darkness but now as you can see that changes when he brings the fangs out
“As D turned to face the dark one once more, it saw that fresh blood streamed from his cheek to his lips—and for the first time, the surface of the darkness was visibly disturbed. Licking at the blood around his mouth, stark white fangs poking from his lips, D pulled the blade from his abdomen and hurled it at the darkness. D wasn’t the same person he’d been as the blade he hurled pierced the darkness and left it standing still.
A cry of agony that transcended speech rang through the air, and the dark one staggered. As soon as the shadowy figure collapsed into its coffin, the lid shut. A needle of rough wood pierced the top as it grew clear as glass, leaving the missile stuck in the ground.”

Irya kills her younger brother. A vampire with a pretty interesting ability that allows him to take the senses of his foes
"Pol!" The woman called again.
Blackness covered her face. The young man had shifted his left hand, which he still held outstretched. The shadow of his palm and fiver fingers covered the woman's face, robbing her of her sight. The eyes of the woman-Irya- were locked in darkness. Not only that, but even the scenery around her darkened. D's black garb, the grave stones, the trees, and the reflected light were all lost, each and every one of them sinking into darkness.
"He's good" said a hoarse voice that no one would ever mistake for D's, though it certainly seemed to come from his location.
Ahead of the hunter in a particularly dense patch of darkness there burned the sort of animosity that would make anyone want to turn their face away.
"My my my" the hoarse voice said snidely. "There are two presences. Only one of them is all fired up, though. And that darkness- it's special, absorbing all signs of people, sounds, even movements of the air! He could be standing right in front of you l, and you'd never even know until he stabbed you."

Blocking a hit from D isn't without consequence
Her eardrums pounded with the sound made when she'd parried D's blade. The impact shed felt through the dagger not only numbed her left arm from the wrist down, but the loss of feeling extended all the way up to the shoulder.

D has the ability to erase all traces of his presence
she didn't know what the result had been. Apparently this young man had the ability to erase all traces of even his ordinary presence the instant hostilities ceased.

Vampire Hunter D vol 23 Irya the berserker

With help from left hand D can put out strength equivalent to that of a nuclear weapon
As the left hand that'd consumed the entire ceramic pitcher told D that water and earth should be enough, the hunters sword had flashed out, and Langland fold in space-something a nuclear weapon wouldn't be able to scratch- had been broken

More tech made by the Nobles
"It's the Lightning thicket of the gods," the hoarse voice told her with delight, speaking for the first time in quite a while. "Long ago there was an army of giants produced by the Noblility that rebelled against their creators, and somewhere hereabouts was the battlefield where the two sides clashed in final combat. They say the fighting went on for a whole month without respite. In all the history of the Nobility, the only other external threat they spent longer fighting was the alien invaders about two thousand years ago."
(Skipping a bit)
"Some say the Lightning comes from an assault satellite up in orbit; others claim it's a weapon iced weather front. Whatever the case once every seven days lighting runs between the ground and the sky, covering the plains like s forest. Just out lick to run into it"

Vampire Hunter D vol 23 Irya the Berserker

The lighting from said weapon

Looking at D, Irya said, "my cloak is equipped to protect me from the electrocution- how about your coat "
The hoarse voice blurted out, "sadly, no"
"What'll you do, then?"
Light swelled in the distance. Heaven an earth trembled. A roar that seemed to rock the world on its axis bore down on them.
The girl didn't know what to say.
"That cape can't protect you," D said. " the Giants were over thirty feet tall and armored in four inches of high density steel, but it seemed a single strike was able to kill them instantly."

The Sacred Ancestors presence is like a black hole
“Suddenly, the sky clouded darkly. Even the sound of the wind died sharply.
D’s right hand stretched for the sword on his back.
The courtyard was no longer the courtyard.
With every inch of his body, D felt it rising into being.
His immediate vicinity was pitch-black. Allowing not even light itself to pass, its density was comparable to that of a black hole. But as incredible as the density of the darkness was, it was several orders of magnitude lower than the presence that stood before D, blocking his path.
D sent all that density right back at the presence.
I should have expected as much. You did well to resist it, a disembodied voice said disinterestedly. It wasn’t praise. This was something the meaning of which was beyond words. Anyone else would have been crippled by this point, their psyche physically crushed. You certainly are a success.”

Vampire Hunter D vs Vampire Hunter Nolt

“I’m glad you could make it.”
The low voice made Nolt’s whole body stiffen. Just for an instant, though. His hexagonal staff ripped through the air behind him—in the direction of the voice. It was as if his right hand had become a flash of brown. The strange thing was, the arc his weapon painted with the speed of light was a full circle. Surely enough, the hexagonal staff had grown to nearly twice its former length, stretching toward the spot from which the voice had issued.
However, when Nolt spun around dumbstruck by the lack of contact, the pole in his hands was no longer than normal.
“That’s quite an unusual skill you have, sir,” the youth of hair-raising beauty said in a voice of steel from atop a cyclopean block of stone that loomed by the side of the road.
No reply was given, but a flash of brown shot out. The spot it touched blasted apart, and in the midst of the scattered chips of stone D flew through the air like a mystic bird. Had his gelid gaze caught the mark the pole left on the rocky surface?
-
“In Nolt’s hands, the staff that plowed through almost diamond-hard stone like it was clay changed direction easily and raced for the airborne D.
There was a glimmer in D’s right hand. The arc of brown was countered by a flash of silver, and there was a dull thud. Not giving Nolt time for a second attack, as soon as he landed right in front of the Marcus brother, D swung his blade down.
Tasting the blood-freezing fear of that blade all the while, Nolt leapt backward. The attack he unleashed as he leapt was not a swing but rather a jab, and his staff seemed to grow without end as it struck for D’s face. Though he didn’t seem to move a muscle, the pole missed D by a fraction of an inch as he launched himself into the air.
A flashing sideways slash. The blade that would’ve put a diagonal split down the middle of Nolt’s face bit instead into the pole that shot up, and the two figures broke to opposite sides.
The end of his staff still aimed at D’s chest, Nolt was breathing hard. Tidings of his fear. A thread-thin “line of vermilion ran down the middle of his face from his forehead, and it widened at his jaw. That was the work of the blade D brought down as soon as he’d landed.
However, the blood trickling down his face wasn’t Nolt’s only concern. His hexagonal staff wasn’t a mere piece of wood, but rather its center was packed with a steel core that, despite its thinness, could still deflect a high-intensity laser beam. Yet the pole was missing about a foot off one end. Realizing that it’d been chopped off while he was in midair, Nolt lost much of the fever in his blood.
“You son of a bitch,” he growled, finally managing to say something. “So I guess you ain’t no plain old dhampir, are you?”
-
“I’m a dhampir,” D answered, still holding the same pose in his opponent’s blue eyes.
Nolt’s mouth twisted up in a smile. “Is that a fact? Then how do you like these apples?” With these words, his staff spun in a circle and struck the ground next to him.
With a gut-wrenching rumble, a chunk of ground a yard in diameter collapsed in on itself. This was no ordinary hollow. Maintaining a depth of about a foot, it became a ditch running all the way to the river.
About to pounce once again, D turned his eyes to this subsidence. Madness gripped the once calmly flowing water. As it coursed down the ditch from the shore, the water gathered intense speed, and, slapping up against the banks, it rose like a living creature. In great rolls, the water gushed into the space between the two of them. First the ankles and then the boots of both D and Nolt sank below the surface.
“How about it, dhampir? Can you move?” Nolt asked with a smile. It was the smirk of a victor. “You know, I’ve thrown down with your kind before. And this is what I did then “When a part of a dhampir gets wet, it kinda gets all stiff, don’t it?”
D didn’t move. Perhaps he couldn’t move?
“Die, you bastard!” Nolt screamed as he charged forward. Getting a solid grip on the bottom part of the staff, he brandished it like he was going to bring it straight down and smash D’s head open. The water splashed from his feet, and he kicked off the ground.
Black lightning raced up from below. Higher and faster than the staff, it danced up over his head. The last thing Nolt saw was the thick water stretching up from the ground like a tenacious predator clinging to D’s black boots.
Split by D’s blade from forehead to chin, by the time Nolt had fallen back to earth he wasn’t breathing anymore. A bloody mist reeled out from his remains.”

This Nobles arm is as hard as steel but D has no problem slicing in when he gets serious
“Though they hardly seemed to be more than walking, the time it took the adversaries to meet spoke volumes about the unholy speed with which they’d closed.
An artless-looking swipe of D’s blade was stopped by the grand duke’s left forearm. At that instant, D learned that the grand duke’s arm was as hard as steel.
D’s eyes gave off a red glow. From that moment, his blade had a new edge to it. It took the grand duke’s left arm off at the elbow and drew a geyser of fresh blood.”

Takes heat hot enough to melt iron
“Flare Soldier had sprayed D with the blood that could even melt iron, and now the blade was being brought down on D’s head with all Barry Dawn’s might. And though the Hunter should’ve dodged, his body was being held in place by the crossed magic swords.”

This vampire tries to absorb a Ds powers, it's too much
“D didn’t try to evade the blow, but rather parried it. And that was precisely what Gillian had been after. He would absorb all of D’s abilities and use them to slay the Hunter.
“Gaaaah!”
An ear-splitting scream exploded from Gillian’s mouth. As the Nobleman practically pried his blade free, his face was covered with horrible wrinkles.
“Such power . . . The energy is . . .”
He was actually weeping.
“Exactly how much—No, that will be enough. It’s more than I can handle. Let’s settle this, D. Quake!”
