In my opinion, the cross edges out the horizontal tri-color, but just barely.

Because now the flag is part of the effort itself, returning quality back to FactPile -

A fake flag doesn't just sprinkle magical quality dust on a website like factpile. It's the quality of the arguments and debates posted. That's how it's always going to be. Making some little flag won't suddenly make people debate better.

That was never the intent. You are making an assumption, and an incorrect one at that.

The intent is to support the collective of those involved in developping rules, guidelines, and etiquette by giving it visual representation. In this way, it solidifies community sentiments, and promotes cooperation to improve the quality of exchanges within the mainland.

The flag is not a magical switch to undo stupidity. It only hopes to add a little extra muscle to the items that ARE meant to squelch underwhelming contributions.

Also symbolism is very powerful when done right and lastly if Admin makes real flags based on the design he can make some money out of it. Which in turn helps the site.
