Tips for a Successful Forum

Postby Dualgunner » Thu Jan 26, 2012 9:22 pm

So, I have a forum of my own. One I'm staying away from for a while, but it's still mine.

Anyway, this is a very successful-looking forum. I wanted to know if you guys had any tips for me to make my forum better?

The url is: s4.zetaboards.com/cydef

It is a zetaboards forum. The main problems are that we have a somewhat small lack of activity in a lot of departments. The member inflow is dying, really, despite our revisal of the new initiate process and ranking process.

What used to be fifty active members died down to about ten or eleven active members. What we need are good ideas for getting new members, and ways of keeping the forum exciting.

Advertisement on other forums is always a good idea, as well as to likeminded people. A specific subject usually helps draw in fans.

Generally, consider the words you type when looking for a forum. And integrate those words into your site.

Other than that... No idea. This place is hardly "booming", as far as forums go.

Edit: On the bright side, the forum looks pretty neat. I assume its a fan-site dedicated to that occasionally seen browser based game I keep seeing everywhere (dragonfable? Something like that)

Thank you, and yeah, it's a fan-based site.

Though quite honestly, not many of us play that game (Yeah, Dragonfable) anymore...

Thanks for the advice, too. :)

Best thing you can do is get into places like GameFAQs, the late PlayHaven, etc, for both the game's page an the pages of similar games, and start getting the name of the game AND your forums out there.

Hey! I've seen your stuff before! In some of the articles on Dragonfable's wiki. You guys have been around for a while. Nice to see you found FPT. I haven't played in a while but I can remember a lot about you guys even tho I didn't browse the AE Forums. Cysero is boss! :D

I think I still have a lifetime account on DragonFable, bought wayyy back when... Must look into that, was an entertaining game, even if I never got far. I did like my pig-on-a-stick weapon.
