RX-78-2 Gundam vs Mechagodzilla

Suggester: Friendlysociopath
Characters: RX-78-2 Gundam, Mechagodzilla

Description:
Gogo robot battle? Neither of the two is piloted but both are assumed to function in peak condition regardless.
Mechagodzilla can draw feats all media (movie, manga, games) and the RX can do the same so long as it's a canon Gundam-based media- no crossovers for example.

Sauro would be proud of these mecha matches.

Ready Player One also came out.

The Gundam would lose though.
Pretty badly.

It would? I have no doubt RX is faster and more agile- Mechagodzilla's controls are all based around its head so if you can put sufficient damage into that part you've won.
Granted, I'm not sure exactly how powerful Mechagodzilla's weapons are. For the most part it looks like it can easily blow up buildings and some of its weapons can pierce Godzilla's hide. Admittedly that would mean the penetrating power of its missiles/drill is above anything we have in terms of guns- Godzilla has been steadily no-selling military weapons of all kinds for decades now.

I will say those are some pretty big explosions though since Godzilla is several stories tall. Dunno if you can get a yield from those or not.
That missile at 2:07 looks like it basically tears up an entire city block though. The street and all the buildings jump into the air and cars go flying.

Yeah, poor Gundam.

According to Heisei Godzilla's wikizilla entry https://wikizilla.org/wiki/Godzilla/Hei ... mic_Breath , Heisei Godzilla's regular atomic breath is 500,000 C/900,032 F, while his Spiral Atomic Breath (or heat ray, I guess) from Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 reaches 1.2 million C/2.1 million F. The Spiral Atomic Breath managed to melt Mechagodzilla 2's armor after a few hits. Plus he get's Showa's weird heat-rotating-barrier, toes, finger, and kneecap missiles, tummy laser (a lot of people say it cuts through a mountain but its a "mountain" barely taller than Mechagodzilla https://wikizilla.org/wiki/images/c/c9/ ... k_Beam.png ), eye/mouth beam attacks, a super radar that can spot foes underwater/underground.

Basically becomes one enormous weapons platform which can withstand temps hotter than the surface of the sun.

In hindsight, Optimus Prime probably should've fought RX-78-2 Gundam, and the Burning Gundam probably should've been up against Mechagodzilla.
The winner would still be determined just as easily, but the matches would be much more fair.

Spoiler
So, in the movie Ready Player One, Mechagodzilla wrecks the Iron Giant. It pretty much removes the entire back side.
A main character had the ability to summon the RX-78-2 Gundam and had limited time to use it. The Gundam and Mechagodzilla trade blows, but only the Gundam did noticeable damage. Its beam saber was able to cut Mechagodzilla.
Then, time ran out; guy who piloted the Gundam was burnt to crisp.
The Iron Giant and an explosive through the eye finishes the pilot in Mechagodzilla.

The opposite of what happened in this match.
